Police investigating the disappearance of 26-year-old Amy Morris have arrested a man in connection with the case after new CCTV footage came to light.
The man, identified as Craig Lomax, 27, was one of five friends who had been out with Amy on the night she went missing in Brixton. He was taken into custody for questioning around 8 p.m. last night.
Detectives confirmed that new evidence has emerged showing Amy getting into an unmarked car shortly after leaving M-Bar in the early hours of the morning. The footage, obtained from a nearby security camera, shows Amy approaching a vehicle believed to be operating as an unlicensed taxi.
NEW SUSPECT IN CUSTODY IN THE DISAPPEARANCE OF AMY MORRIS CASE
Police later located and questioned the driver, who told officers that Amy asked to stop partway through the journey. According to his statement, a man matching Craig Lomax’s description was seen getting into the car at that point.
Investigators are now reviewing additional CCTV from surrounding streets to track the vehicle’s movements and determine where it went after Amy was last seen.
Detective Inspector Sarah Carter, who is leading the investigation, said:
“We are continuing to piece together Amy’s movements after she left the nightclub. This new footage represents a significant development in our investigation. We are working to establish exactly what happened after she entered that car and who she was with.”
Amy’s family have been informed of the latest developments. They continue to appeal for privacy and for anyone with information to come forward.
Friends described Craig as part of Amy’s close social circle, saying the two had known each other for several years. Police have not yet confirmed whether he remains in custody or has been released pending further enquiries.
Anyone who may have seen Amy or the unmarked vehicle in the Brixton area between 1:30 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. is urged to contact police immediately or reach out anonymously through Crimesolvers.
